New Rochelle, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team tuned up for their upcoming Florida spring trip on Saturday afternoon by posting their first doubleheader sweep since the program was reinstated in 2018, defeating the host Blue Angels of The College of New Rochelle by scores of 10-5 and 10-7. With the non-conference wins the Fighting Tigers improved to 3-4 overall on the season to date while the Blue Angels fall to 0-10 for the campaign.
In the opener the Fighting Tigers scored five times in the top of the sixth inning to break a 5-5 tie and record the victory for sophomore starter
Daniel Wade, Jefferson, N.Y., Jefferson High School, who evened his record at 1-1 overall on the year by allowing two earned runs in six innings of work striking out seven while walking three.
Offensively Cobleskill was led by freshman second baseman
Joseph Ciatto, Patterson, N.Y., Carmel High School, who operating out of the lead-off spot went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI and a walk and by sophomore shortstop Eddie Garcia, Bronx, N.Y., World View High School, who went 1-for-3 and two RBI.
The Fighting Tigers also received strong contributions to the victory at the plate from junior left fielder
Jayson Maxwell, Newport, N.Y., Notre Dame High School, who went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, two runs scored and a RBI and from senior first baseman
Nate Carinci, Oneida, N.Y., Oneida High School/Jefferson Community College, who was 2-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI.
In the nightcap the Orange & Black out slugged their hosts once again scoring 10 runs: on nine hits along with nine walks and five hit batsmen to out distance the Angels.
Sophomore center fielder
Mitchell Holmes, Dartmouth, Mass., Bristol County Agricultural High School, led the way for the Fighting Tigers at the plate going 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBI while left fielder
Jayson Maxwell went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a RBI with first baseman
Nate Carinci going 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and a RBI. Freshman third baseman
Frank Leger, Bronx, N.Y., All-Hallows High School, also contributed to the offense going 1-for-5 with a third inning home run.
Freshman right hander Kristopher Bluman, Williamson, N.Y., Williamson High School, picked up the win in relief going two innings allowing no earned runs while striking out one hitter.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Monday when they meet Mount Saint Mary College from Newburgh, N.Y. at the 2019 Snowbird Baseball Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida beginning at 4:00 p.m.
