Port Charlotte, Fla.: After losing a pair of days to rainy weather, the SUNY Cobleskill men's baseball team returned to action on Thursday afternoon at 2019 Snowbird Classic losing to Midwestern regional power Denison University by a score of 7-1. With the loss the Fighting Tigers drop to 3-7 overall on the season while the Big Red improve to 11-2 overall.
The Big Red offense proved too much for the Cobleskill pitching staff scoring seven runs by pounding out 16 hits on the afternoon including six doubles and a home run.
Sophomore right hander
Daniel Wade, Jefferson, N.Y., Jefferson High School, took the loss for the Orange & Black working five innings allowing three runs, two of which were earned, on nine hits.
At the plate, the Fighting Tigers were led by freshman second baseman
Joseph Ciatto, Patterson, N.Y., Carmel High School, who went 3-for-4 from the lead-off spot and by freshman third baseman
Frank Leger, Bronx, N.Y., All Hallows High School, who went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Cobleskill will close out the 2019 Snowbird Classic on Friday when they once again meet the Big Red from Denison University for a single game beginning at 11:00 a.m.
