Yonkers, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team ended a three-game losing streak on Thursday afternoon by defeating the host College of Mount St. Vincent Dolphins by an 11-6 margin in non-league play. With the victory the Fighting Tigers improve to 2-3 overall on the year while the Dolphins fall to 1-4 overall on the campaign.
The Fighting Tigers put the contest away early scoring eight times in the first period to race out to an 8-1 lead from which they would never look back as Cobleskill out shot their hosts by a 53-to-29 margin on the afternoon.
Junior attackman
Ed White, Utica, N.Y., Thomas R. Proctor High School/Herkimer Community College, led the way for the Fighting Tigers with three goals and two assists on the day while junior midfielder
Kieran Tierney, Marcellus, N.Y., Marcellus High School, contributed three goals and an assist. Senior attackman
Sean Degnan, Monroe, N.Y., Monroe-Woodbury High School, also contributed a three goal effort to the victory.
Defensively, senior goalie
Willie Wilson, Geneva, N.Y., Geneva High School/Tompkins-Cortland Community College, made seven saves versus the Dolphins supported by another strong effort form sophomore defender
Nick Dominic, Pittsford, N.Y., Pittsford High School, who caused seven turnovers and picked up three ground balls in the win.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Saturday March 30
th when they travel to Purchase, N.Y. for a non-league meeting with the Panthers of SUNY Purchase beginning at 1:00 p.m.
