Fighting Tiger Baseball Loses NEAC Home Opener to Keuka College Wolves 12-4

Cobleskill Baseball Loses NEAC Opener to Keuka College on Friday 12-4

Cobleskill, N.Y.: Due to a superior effort from their grounds crew to get Fighting Tiger Field game ready; the SUNY Cobleskill baseball team opened the 2019 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) season on Friday afternoon, with a 12-4 loss to the Wolves of Keuka College. With the loss the Fighting Tigers are now 3-10 overall on the year including a 0-1 record in NEAC action while the Wolves are now 4-9 overall and 1-0 in league play.

The two teams battled back and forth through seven innings with Keuka holding a 5-3 advantage. After the Fighting Tigers left the tying runs on base in the bottom of the seventh the Wolves tallied seven times in the eighth and ninth innings to secure the conference victory.

Cobleskill was led offensively by sophomore shortstop Eddie Garcia, Bronx, N.Y., World View High School, who was 2-for-5 on the day with a run scored and a stolen base and from senior first baseman Nate Carinci, Oneida, N.Y., Oneida High School, Jefferson Community College, who slugged his first home run of the season as part of a 1-for-4 two RBI effort. Junior center fielder Jayson Maxwell, Newport, N.Y., Notre Dame Senior High School, was also a factor for the Orange & Black at the plate going 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a RBI for the home team.

The Fighting Tigers and Wolves will next be in action on Saturday afternoon, March 30, when they meet for a NEAC doubleheader at Fighting Tiger Field beginning at 12:00 p.m.
