Fighting Tiger Baseball Splits With Utica College in Non-Conference Play on Monday

Sophomore Starter Kristopher Bulman Shuts Down Pioneers in 2-0 Victory For Cobleskill

Cobleskill, N.Y.: After a long Easter weekend filled with North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) games; the SUNY Cobleskill baseball team split a pair of non-conference contests with the Pioneers of Utica College winning the opener 2-0 then losing the finale by a score of 10-5. With the split the Fighting Tigers are now 13-16 overall on the season while the Pioneers now move to 12-16 on the campaign.

In the first game the Fighting Tiger pitching staff made a strong statement as freshman starter Kristopher Bulman, Williamson, N.Y., Williamson High School, worked six scoreless innings scattering four hits while striking out five and walking no Pioneer hitters to record the win while sophomore Mitchell Holmes, Dartmouth, Mass., Bristol Country Agricultural High School, trotted in from center field in the seventh inning to earn his first save of the season allowing one hit and striking out one.

Holmes was also a factor at the plate scoring the eventual game winning run in the first inning on a wild throw as part of a 2-for-4 day with the bat that included a game lead-off double while freshman left fielder River Sisson, Cobleskill, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, went 2-for-3 with a RBI. Sophomore designated hitter Jacob Hoffee, Lyndonville, N.Y., Lyndonville High School, was also a factor in the victory going 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

In the nightcap the Fighting Tigers held a 5-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh when a two errors and a pair of defensive miscues allowed Utica to score seven runs to put the game out of reach.

River Sisson was once again impressive at the plate for Cobleskill going 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a RBI with Jacob Hoffee continuing his hitting streak going 2-for-3 with a run scored in the game.
