Fighting Tiger Men's Lax Loses Season Finale to Hilbert College 9-6 in NEAC Play

Fourth Quarter Turnovers Cost Fighting Tigers in 9-6 Loss to Hilbert College

 

Eden, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team closed the 2019 season on Saturday afternoon dropping a hard hitting 9-6 decision to the Hawks of Hilbert College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action in a game played at Eden High School. With the loss the Fighting Tigers close the campaign with a 3-10 overall record including a 1-6 mark in NEAC action while the Hawks finish the year with a 6-7 overall record including a 3-4 conference record.

Trailing 6-5 entering the fourth quarter the Fighting Tigers were bitten by the turnover bug committing five which led to them being outscored 3-1 in the quarter by the Hawks to decide the issue. The Fighting Tigers also struggled in the face-off circle losing 12-of-19 attempts on the afternoon.

Senior attackman Edwin Martinez, Brentwood, N.Y., Brentwood Academy, scored a pair of goals on the day for Cobleskill while junior attackman Devin Corey, Cornwall, N.Y.,  Cornwall High School, added a goal and an assist. Junior attackman/midfielder Ed White, Thomas R. Proctor High School/Herkimer Community College, also had a goal and an assist in the game for the Fighting Tigers.

Defensively senior goalkeeper Willie Wilson, Geneva, N.Y., Geneva High School/Tompkins-Cortland Community College, closed his Cobleskill career with 19 saves, four ground balls and a cause turnover while sophomore defender Nick Dominic, Pittsford, N.Y., Pittsford High School, picked up a game high 10 ground balls to go along with three caused turnovers.
