Cobleskill, N.Y.:  In a rematch of the 2018 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) the SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team opened their 2019 season by defeating the visiting Wolves of Keuka College by a 2-1 margin on Saturday afternoon at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. With the win the Fighting Tigers move to 3-2-1 overall on the year including a 1-0 mark in NEAC action while the Wolves are now 0-4-1 overall with a 0-1 record in league play.

Keuka opened the scoring in the 13^th minute when senior defender Claude Tuyishimire headed home a corner kick.  The Fighting Tigers pushed hard to find the equalizing goal in the first half, but the Wolves defense kept it 1-0 as both teams entered halftime.

In the 64^th minute senior midfielder Emile Vwaza, Manhattan, N.Y., Jacueline Kennedy Onassis High School, found the back of the net on a 20-yard strike that went up and over the Wolves goalkeeper to tie the game at 1-1.  The Fighting Tigers kept pushing for the winning goal and were awarded a free kick outside the 18-yard box in the 68^th minute.  Emile Vwaza stepped up to the ball and tucked it away for the Fighting Tigers to give them the lead 2-1 late in the second half.

Freshman keeper Rashawn Best, Brooklyn, N.Y., Martin Luther King High School, was outstanding in the net for the Tigers with 7 saves, which included a saved penalty kick late in the second half to secure the win for the Fighting Tigers.     

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Tuesday September 17^th when they travel to Albany, N.Y. for a non-league contest versus the Gators of Sage College to be played at the Albany College of Pharmacy Complex beginning at 7:00 p.m.
