Fighting Tiger Women's Soccer Loses 1-0 Battle at Morrisville State in NEAC Play

Cobleskill Women Blanked 1-0 By Morrisville Mustangs in NEAC Action

Morrisville, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team stepped back into North Eastern Athletic Conference Action (NEAC) on Saturday losing a hard fought 1-0 decision against the host Mustangs of Morrisville State. With the loss the Fighting Tigers are now 1-6 overall on the year including a 0-2 record in NEAC play while the Mustangs are now 4-3 overall with a 2-0 record versus conference competition.

The Mustangs scored the only goal in the game's 11th minute when Morrisville junior forward Shay Franklin, North Norwich, Sherburne-Earlville High School, scored on a pass from senior midfielder Madison Shoemaker, Caledonia, N.Y., Caledonia-Mumford High School.

From that point on both teams' defenses solidified and despite several second half opportunities for each team the contest ended 1-0 in favor of the home team.

Fighting Tiger junior goalkeeper Jill Gordon, Rocky Hill, Conn., Middletown High School, continued to shine in net for the Orange & Black recording six saves on the afternoon.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Wednesday September 25th when they travel to Marcy, N.Y. for a NEAC contest versus the Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute with kick-off at 7:00 p.m.
