Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball returned home to the Iorio Gymnasium on Tuesday evening to lose a hard fought decision to the visiting Gators of Sage College 3-1 by scores of: 25-16, 25-15, 22-25 and 25-22. With the loss the Fighting Tigers are now 5-6 overall on the year while the Gators are now 2-13 overall on the season.
The Fighting Tigers were paced by junior setter
Maleigha Ellithorpe, Cazenovia, N.Y., Cazenovia High Schoo/Onondaga Community College, with 30 assists on the evening and by junior defensive specialist
Megan Gass, West Monroe, N.Y., Central Square High School/Finger Lakes Community College, who contributed 16 digs on the night for the home team.
Up front for the Orange & Black, sophomore middle hitter Jillian Nitchman, Ballston Spa, N.Y., Ballston Spa High School, led the team with seven kills in the match with junior outside hitter
McKenzie Homer, West Winfield, N.Y., Mt. Markham High School/Mohawk Valley Community College, chipping in five kills and 12 digs. Â Â
Cobleskill will get very little rest as the Orange & Black will travel to Utica College on Wednesday evening to face the host Pioneers of Utica College for a non-conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
