Harrisburg, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team closed out their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) weekend Pennsylvania road trip on Sunday afternoon coming back from 18 points down to defeat the Nittany Lions of Penn State Harrisburg by an 87-79 margin. With the win the Fighting Tigers are now 8-3 overall on the season including a 2-1 mark in NEAC action while the Nittany Lions are now currently 6-6 overall with a 2-1 record in conference play.
Trailing 54-39 at the half the Fighting Tigers found themselves on the wrong end of a 65-47 margin with 15:48 left in regulation.
From that point on, the Cobleskill comeback effort saw the Orange & Black take the lead at 78-77 with 2:58 left to play on a jumper by junior forward
James Conteh, Queens, N.Y., The Patrick School/SUNY Sullivan, which led to a 9-2 run that put the game in the winners column for the visitors.
James Conteh led a balanced Fighting Tiger attack with 19 points and three rebounds that featured five players in double figures in scoring as: senior guard
Daniel Owens, Albany, N.Y., Christian Brothers Academy/Herkimer Community College, scored 15 points to go with five rebounds and three steals, senior point guard
Scott Glasheen, Voorheesville, N.Y., Vooheesville High School, hit for 13 points while passing out five assists with senior swingman
Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, adding 11 points and seven rebounds to the victory totals. Sophomore guard
Lorenzo Bicknese, Somers, N.Y., Somers High School, also played a major role in the win coming off the bench to score 11 points, grab six rebounds and pass out four assists.
The Fighting Tigers will return home on Wednesday January 15
th for a NEAC meeting with the Wolves of Keuka College as part of a men's/women's doubleheader with the men's game tipping off at 5:00 p.m. followed by the women's game at 7:00 p.m.
