Men's Basketball Remain Hot in 94-67 Win Over Visiting Keuka College

Claxton and Conteh Score a Combined 53 points to Lift the Tigers to Victory

Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team returned home on Wednesday evening and enjoyed a 94-67 victory over the visiting Wolves of Keuka College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. With the win the Fighting Tigers move to 9-3 overall including a 3-1 record in conference play while Keuka is now 2-9 overall with a 1-3 record in NEAC action.

The Tigers were clicking on all cylinders on both ends of the court from the first whistle and led the game from start to finish.  They used an impressive first half to put themselves comfortably in the lead and were up 53-24 heading into the locker rooms.  Cobleskill shot 60.0% from the field and 53.8% from behind the arc in the first half.  The Tigers kept the Wolves at bay for the entire second half and finished the game with a 27-point win.

Cobleskill finished the game shooting 50% from the field and 46.7% from deep.  They held a 41-36 rebound advantage over the visitors and scored 36 points in the paint. 
 
The Fighting Tigers received big contributions from their two swingmen.  Senior Antwan Claxton (Bronx, N.Y./ Taft) finished with 28 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks.  He shot 12 of 18 from the field and chipped in 3 from deep.  Junior James Conteh (Queens, N.Y./ Patrick School) scored 25 points and grabbed 2 rebounds. 
    
Senior Scott Glasheen (Voorheesville, N.Y./ Voorheesville) posted a game-high 8 assists during the contest to go along with 8 points.  Sophomore guard Mike McKoy (Charlotte, N.C./ Statesville Christian) scored a career-high 12 points coming off the bench in 18 minutes.

The Fighting Tigers will return to competition over the weekend on Saturday, January 18th when they travel to Aurora, N.Y. for a NEAC meeting with The Express of Wells College with tip-off at 1:00 p.m..  Then they return home to the Iorio Gymnasium on Sunday, January 19th for a non-league contest versus the Broncos of SUNY Delhi beginning at 3:00 p.m.
