Fighting Tigers End Two-Game Losing Streak With 86-56 NEAC Road Win Over Keuka

Keuka Park, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team took to the road on Saturday afternoon to end a two-game losing streak defeating the host Wolves of Keuka College by an 86-56 margin in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action.  With the win the Fighting Tigers improve to 12-6 overall including a 6-3 record in league action while Keuka is now 3-13 overall with a 2-7 record versus NEAC opponents.

Leading 32-29 at the half the Fighting Tigers dominated play in the second half by outscoring their hosts 54-27 on the strength of an offensive effort that saw the visitors connect on 32-of-62 attempts from the field, 51.6%, including an impressive 14-of-30 from three-point range, 46.7%, from three-point range while holding the Wolves to 21-of-59 (35.6%) shooting from the floor including only 4-for-18 (22.2%) from three-point range. Additionally Cobleskill forced their hosts into 20 turnovers on the day.

Senior swingman Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, once again led the Orange & Black in scoring with 18 points to go with four rebounds while junior forward James Conteh, Queens, N.Y., The Patrick School/SUNY Sullivan, added 15 points, six rebounds and four assists to the team's victory totals. Senior guard Daniel Owens, Albany, N.Y., Christian Brothers Academy/Herkimer Community College, had 11 points and four assists while sophomore guard Lorenzo Bicknese, Somers, N.Y., Somers High School, posted 14 points and four rebounds.

The Fighting Tiger bench was also effective in the win as junior guard Darius Hines, Troy, N.Y., Troy High School/Herkimer Community College, had nine points and two rebounds off the pines with senior guard Devin Boyle, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School, contributing eight points, two rebounds and an assist in a reserve role.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Wednesday February 5th when they return home to the Iorio Gymnasium for a NEAC meeting with The Express of Wells College with tip-off at 5:00 p.m.
