Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team returned to action on Wednesday evening with a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) home contest versus The Express of Wells College which saw Cobleskill end a four-game losing streak by posting a 70-31 conference victory over the visitors. With the win Fighting Tigers move to 9-10 overall including a 4-6 record in NEAC contests while The Express falls to 0-19 overall with a 0-10 record in conference play.
The Fighting Tigers opened the game on a 9-0 run and never looked back eventually leading 28-11 at the half on the strength of a team defense that would hold The Express to 12-of-46, 26.1%, from the field while forcing the visitors into 24 turnovers on the evening.
Sophomore guard
TyLysa Martinez, Coram, N.Y., Longwood High School, led Cobleskill in scoring with 16 points to go with eight rebounds and three assists while freshman guard/forward
Megan Hughes, Warrensburg, N.Y., Warrensburg High School, chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds on the evening. Senior guard
Erica Cabrera, Middletown, N.Y., Burk Catholic High School, scored 11 points to go with five steals and two assists with freshman forward
Anna Post, Bovina Center, N.Y., Delaware Academy, grabbing a game high of 12 rebounds to go with seven points.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday February 8
th when they travel to Marcy, N.Y. for a NEAC meeting with the Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute beginning at 3:00 p.m.
