Marcy, N.Y.: Battling injuries and illness an undermanned SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team took to the road on Saturday afternoon to drop an 80-57 road decision to the league leading Wildcats of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play. With the loss the Fighting Tigers are now 9-11 overall including a 4-7 league record while the Wildcats are currently 13-7 overall with a 11-0 NEAC record.
Despite having only eight healthy bodies on the active roster for the game, Cobleskill came out aggressive both offensively and defensively actually leading 25-21 after the first quarter before fatigue and the Wildcats seize and experience took over the action.
The Fighting Tigers were led in scoring by junior guard
Nylasia Sutton, Queens, N.Y., Lansingburgh High School/Herkimer Community College, who had 13 points to go with three rebounds and two assists and senior guard
Erica Cabrera, Middletown, N.Y., Burke Catholic High School, who also had 13 points on the afternoon. Freshman forward
Anna Post, Bovina Center, N.Y., Delaware Academy, was also a factor in the game posing a double/double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Cobleskill will return to action on Wednesday February 12
th when they host the Mustangs of Morrisville State in league play with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m.
