Oneonta, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team dropped an away non-conference contest 62-79 against the Reg Dragons of Oneonta. The Tigers are 0-2 on the season while the hosts improve to 2-0.
Senior
Juwan Malone (Brooklyn, NY) led the team with 18 points and 3 rebounds. Malone shot 7 for 13 from the field and 3 for 5 from downtown in the game.
Shaun Johnson (Poughkeepsie, NY) added 8 points and 3 assists for the Tigers.
Naphtali Regilus (Roselle, NJ) brought down a team high 8 rebounds and
Sharaim Best (Valley Stream, NY) added 7 points on 3 for 7 shooting from the field.
The Tigers battled with Oneonta from the tip and jumped out to a 10-8 after a Malone three pointer assisted by
Shaun Johnson. Malone helped the Tigers retake the lead 16-15 at the 9:09 mark in the first half after he made a pull up jumper.
The Dragons would use their size and speed to take back the lead in the first half and went into the half with a 37-30 lead over the Tigers.
The host opened the second half with a 11-0 run to push their lead to 48-30. The Tigers tried to battle back, but the Red Dragons answered every bell. They extended their lead to 42-71 with six minutes left in the game and held on for the 62-79 victory over the Tigers.
Cobleskill finished the contest shooting 35.7 percent while the Red Dragons shot it at 37 percent. The hosts held a 41-72 rebound edge, including a 9-32 advantage on the offensive glass. The Tigers bench showed up to play and chipped in 30 points while Oneonta's bench added 18 points for the hosts.
