Plattsburgh, NY – The Cobleskill women's basketball team closed out the Cardinal Classic with a hard-fought 61-55 loss to SUNY Potsdam. The Tigers drop to 1-3 on the season while the Bears of Potsdam improve to 2-1.
Two Cobleskill players scored in double figures, led by sophomore
Hannah Cater (Schoharie, NY) with a season high 16 points and 10 rebounds to notch her first double/double of the season. She went 7-15 from the field and 1-1 from beyond the arc.
Anna Post (Bovina Center, NY) finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds to add to her collection of double/doubles in her career. She went 5-7 from the field and added an assist.
Xy'El Bradford led the Bears with 11 points and Bella Barner added 10 points.
Cobleskill trailed 15-10 after one quarter, but they closed the lead in the second quarter and took the lead 24-23 at halftime after a made jumper by Post assisted by
TyLysa Martinez (Coram, NY).
The Tigers and Bears traded leads in the second half, but Potsdam used a strong fourth quarter to close the game out. Cobleskill was outscored 23-11 in the final quarter and the game finished 61-55 in favor of the Bears.
Turnovers hurt the Tigers all game as they battled back and forth with Potsdam. They ended the game with 25 turnovers.
Cobleskill finished the contest shooting 30 percent while the Bears shot it at 35.4 percent. The hosts held a 53-42 rebound edge.
The Tigers are in action next as they host SUNY Oneonta for a 6:00 pm tip on November 18
th.
