Upon notification the Fighting Tiger Head Coach was quick to point out the many people who helped make the team's championship and his coach-of-the-year honors possible.
"While it is always nice to be honored by your peers for the accomplishments of the young people who run for you, when it comes to this type of award I am merely the front man for many people who work behind the scenes to make this possible. I owe a great deal to my assistant coach and our head track coach
Zach Haskin who is a tireless worker and a great young mind in terms of workouts and strength training. I am also grateful to our head athletic trainer
Matt Rote and his staff for their efforts on our behalf as well as our equipment managers
Mike Jorgensen and
Ryan Gunzinger who do a great deal of work for us. Finally, I once again have to thank the boss our athletic director
Marie Curran-Headley for allowing me to continue to serve as the program's head coach while working as our Sports Information Director. She has made it possible in terms of staffing and support for me to perform both jobs which in the modern world of college athletics cannot be done effectively without such a commitment."
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Saturday November 13 when they travel to Geneseo, N.Y. for the 2021 NCAA Division III Niagara Regional Cross Country Championship hosted by SUNY Geneseo at the National War Plane Museum beginning at 11:00 a.m.
