Alfred, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team opened the 2021-22 season on Friday evening by dropping a 71-47 decision to the host Saxons of Alfred University in non-conference action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers open the campaign at 0-1 while the Saxons start the year at 1-0.
In their first game of the season the Fighting Tigers struggled offensively protecting the basketball as 35 turnovers led to 32 Saxon points on the evening. The visitors also struggled in the fourth quarter as the Orange & Black could manage only six points in the quarter after trailing 53-41 after three quarters.
Junior forward
Anna Post, Bovina Center, N.Y., Delaware Academy, was a bright spot for Cobleskill notching a double/double on the evening with 15 points and 10 rebounds to go with a pair of assists while first-year guard
Annie Canales, North Adams, Mass. Hoosac Valley High School, hit for 11 points on the night.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Monday November 8 when they host Western Connecticut State University at the Iorio Gymnasium with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
