Delhi, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team opened North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Saturday afternoon taking in the road to drop a 95-76 decision to the host Broncos of SUNY Delhi. With the loss the Fighting Tigers drop to 1-7 overall including a 0-1 record in league action while the Broncos improve to 5-3 overall with a 1-0 mark in NAC play.
Cobleskill came out hot in the opening stanza holding a 38-26 advantage with 2:32 left in the half before taking a 42-40 lead into the locker room at the break. The visitors shot a blistering 51.6% during the half connecting on 16-of-31 shots from the floor.
However, the in the second half, the tide turned to the host Broncos as foul trouble and fatigue led to the home team outscoring the Orange & Black by a 55-34 margin to secure the victory. Â
Senior forward
Juwan Malone, Brooklyn, N.Y., Brooklyn Collegiate High School/Fulton-Montgomery Community College, turned in an outstanding effort in defeat for Cobleskill netting 27 points, to go with nine rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots while sophomore forward
Naphtali Regilus, Roselle, N.J. Abraham Clark High School/Essex Community College, hit for 17 points and five rebounds. Junior forward
Justin Feldman, Chester, N.Y., Chester High School/Orange Community College, also turned in a solid showing with 12 points and eight rebounds with first-year guard
Ja'Nayve Smith, Albany, N.Y., Bishop Maginn High School, scored 10 points to go with six rebounds.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Tuesday December 7 when they return home for a non-conference contest versus the Blue Knights or Mount Saint Mary's College beginning at 7:00 p.m.
