Cazenovia, N.Y.: With the threat of inclement weather projected for Wednesday, the SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team had their scheduled North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader versus Cazenovia College moved up a day. The Fighting Tigers fell twice to Western Division leaders in a conference twinbill with the host Wildcats by scores of 9-1 and 11-6 in a battle of a NAC Western Division play-off bid. After the days contests the Fighting Tigers are now 7-7 overall including a 5-5 record in NAC play while the Wildcats move to 13-5 overall with a 9-3 mark in conference play.
In the opener Cazenovia struck for six first inning runs then extended their lead to 7-1 after two innings and never looked back holding the visitors to only five hits in the game.
Sophomore centerfielder
Jillian Nitchman, Ballston Spa, N.Y., Ballston Spa High School, went 1-for-3 with scoring the team's only run on a first inning Wildcat error.
In the second game the Wildcats once again came out swinging leading 8-0 after three innings and never looking back as the home team out slugged Cobleskill by pounding out 17 hits including five doubles to secure the victory.
Centerfielder
Jillian Nitchman was a bright spot offensively in defeat for the Orange & Black going 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run, a triple, two RBI and three runs scored.
The Fighting Tigers are next scheduled to host NAC Western Division rival SUNY Canton at Fighting Tiger Park on Thursday April 29
th with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
