Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's baseball team took a major step to winning the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Western Division Championship on Saturday afternoon by sweeping the visiting Wildcats of Cazenovia College at Fighting Tiger Field by scores of 1-0 and 2-1. With the wins the Fighting Tigers are now 11-6 overall including a 9-3 record in league action while the Wildcats fall to 7-17 overall including a 3-7 mark in NAC play.
The Fighting Tiger pitching staff put a stranglehold on the Wildcats offense in both games as in the opener senior left hander
Devin Lewis, Cobleskill, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, shutout the visitors on five hits while striking out six and walking only two in seven innings. Lewis was also supported by three double plays by the defense to secure the win.
The lone Cobleskill run came in the bottom of the sixth inning when senior shortstop
Eddy Garcia, Bronx, N.Y., World View High School, walked and stole second base then advanced to third on an infield single by sophomore right fielder
Connor Maxwell, Newport, N.Y., West Canada Valley High School. Then with one out after a walk to senior third baseman
Chris Kordziel, Rotterdam, N.Y., Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons High School, freshman second baseman
Stephen Tejada, Queens, N.Y., High School for Construction, laced a single to right field to give the home team the victory.
In the nightcap, it was freshman southpaw
Chris Leavey, Kings Park, N.Y., Kings Park High School, who held the Wildcats in check allowing one run on five hits while striking out one and walking no one over the course of seven innings to record the victory,
The Fighting Tigers capitalized on a pair of Cazenovia defensive miscues to score a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to cement the win.

Nick Thomas, Scotia, N.Y., Scotia-Glenville High School, went 2-for-2 with a walk, double and a run scored to lead the offense while sophomore first baseman
Frank Leger, Bronx, N.Y., All Hallows High School, was 1-of-3 with a double and a run scored in the game for the Orange & Black.
The Fighting Tigers who are currently in first place in the NAC Western Division will next be in action on Sunday afternoon when the travel to Cazenovia, N.Y. to close out their season series with the Cazenovia College Wildcats at Vets Field beginning at 12:00 p.m. Ā
