The SUNY Cobleskill men's baseball team lost to Husson University in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship Series on the Eagles home turf in Bangor, Maine on Thursday in Friday. The Fighting Tigers lost the series opener to Husson by a 5-2 margin before winning the second game on Thursday in walk-off fashion 3-2. In the championship game of the series on Friday, Cobleskill lost to the home team by a score of 14-6 to close the season with a 15-9 overall record for the year. Three Fighting Tigers were named to the 2021 NAC All-Tournament Team for their play during the post-season. Senior outfielder Jayson Maxwell, Newport, N.Y., Notre Dame High School, senior third baseman Chris Kordziel, Rotterdam, N.Y., Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons High School, and senior pitcher Devin Lewis, Cobleskill, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, became the first players in program history to earn spots on the NAC All-Tournament Team.
Senior high jumper Tyler Brado, St. Johnsville, N.Y., Oppenhein-Ephratah-St. Johnsville High School, qualified for the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Tracy & Field National Championships by winning the event at the All-Atlantic Regional Championship Meet hosted by St. John Fisher College on Thursday. The Fighting Tiger senior won the event by tying a program record that has stood since 1968 at a height of 2.06 meters, 6'9", the best mark by a Cobleskill high jumper at the NCAA level.
Fighting Tiger freshman Sean D'Amaro, Northport, N.Y., Northport High School, was named the NAC's 2021 Rookie-of-the-Year by the league's coaches. During the season the freshman midfielder scored 11 goals picked up 16 groundballs and cause two turnovers appearing in all six of the team's games this season.
