Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team was out battled by the visiting Gators of Russell Sage College in non-league action 3-2 on Tuesday evening at the Iorio Gymnasium by set scores of 25-18, 21-25, 14-25, 25-9 and 8-15. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 0-8 overall on the campaign while the Gators are now 2-6 on the season to date.
In a marathon battle that lasted nearly 2:30, the Fighting Tigers could not sustain a comeback effort that saw them roar back to dominate play in the fourth set as the Gators controlled the fifth set from the opening serve to secure the victory.

Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua North High School, led the Cobleskill attack with a season high of 16 kills to go with seven total blocks and four digs on the evening. Cobleskill also received stellar play from senior setter
Maleigha Ellithorpe, Cazenovia, N.Y., Cazenovia High School/Onondaga Community College, who had 39 assists to go with 15 digs on the night and from sophomore outside hitter
MacKenzie Larson, Winterset, Iowa, Winterset High School, who had 13 kills, to go with 14 digs and three service aces.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Thursday September 16 when they host the Wildcats of Bay Path University beginning at 6:00 p.m.
