Cobleskill, N.Y.: Less than 24 hours after their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opening double overtime loss to SUNY Canton on Saturday, the SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team took to their home turf on Sunday to lose a 4-0 decision to the visiting Privateers of SUNY Maritime at the Soccer/Lax Complex. With the loss the Fighting Tigers drop to 0-5 overall on the season while the Privateers improve to 3-1 on the season to date.
With key players sitting out due to injuries the Cobleskill offense could generate little in the way of sustained treats as the Privateers out shot the Orange & Black 22-to-5 on the afternoon.
Despite allowing four goals junior goalkeeper
John Gergen, Greenville, N.Y., Greenville High School, was stellar in net for the home team with six save while breaking up a number scoring opportunities in the goal area.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Tuesday September 21 when they travel to Paul Smith, N.Y. for a non-league contest versus the Bobcats of Paul Smith's College beginning at 6:00 p.m.
