Fighting Tiger Women's Basketball Drops 58-50 Road Decision to SUNY Poly

Cobleskill Women Suffer 58-50 Loss to SUNY Poly in NAC Action

Marcy, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball returned to action on Saturday after several Covid delays to lose a 58-50 decision to the host Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. With the loss the Fighting Tigers are now 7-7 overall including a 3-2 mark in conference contests while the Wildcats improve to 11-6 overall including a 6-1 conference record.

The Fighting Tigers could not overcome a cold start which saw them fall behind to the host Wildcats 38-18 at the half as they scored only six points in the second quarter. On the afternoon the Cobleskill offense was as cold as the central New York weather connecting on only 19-of-66 shots from the field, 28.8%, including only 5-of-23 from three-point range, 21.7%.

Senior guard Tylysa Martinez, Coram, N.Y., Longwood High School, led the team in scoring with 11 points to go with six rebounds while senior guard Kelsey Brown, Scotia, N.Y. Scotia-Glenville High School, added 10 points, three rebounds and three steals on the afternoon.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Monday January 24 when the host the Cougars of Misericordia University in non-league play at the Iorio Gymnasium with tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
