Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team returned to the Iorio Gymnasium on Monday evening to drop a hard-fought decision to the visiting Cougars of Misericordia University by a 77-73 margin in non-league action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers are now 2-13 overall on the year while the Cougars blank to 6-11 on the season to date.
After falling behind 44-33 at the half the Fighting Tigers battled back from an 18-point deficit to cut the lead to three-points with six seconds to play on a three-pointer from first-year guard
Sharaim Best, Valley Stream, N.Y., Elmont Memorial High School. However, that was as close as Cobleskill would come as the Cougars split a pair of free throws with three seconds remaining to secure the win.
Junior forward
Naphtali Regilus, Roselle, N.J., Abraham Clark High School/Essex Community College, led the home team with 15 points to go with four rebounds and three steals while senior forward
Juwan Malone, Brooklyn, N.Y., Brooklyn Collegiate High School/Fulton-Montgomery Community College, posted a double/double with 13 points and 10 rebounds along with a career high of six steals on the night. First-year guard
Mekhi Woodbury, White Plains, N.Y., White Plains High School, was also a factor in the contest coming off the bench to score 15 points and pass out a pair of assists.
The Orange & Black will return to action on Saturday January 29 when they host North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rival SUNY Delhi at the Iorio Gymnasium beginning at 1:00 p.m.
