Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team returned to the friendly confines of the Iorio Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon to post a record setting victory over the Broncos of SUNY Delhi 109-29 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. The Fighting Tigers established a program records for the most points in a game and the largest margin of victory in a game since the team's move to the NCAA Division III level in 2008 on their way to improving their overall record to 8-9 on the year including a 4-2 record in conference play while the Broncos fall to 0-14 overall with a 0-4 record in league action.
Cobleskill opened the contest on a 29-0 opening run and never looked back as the Fighting Tiger defense stymied the Bronco attack throughout the game forcing 36 turnovers and holding the visitors to only 12-of-60, 20.0%, from the field on the afternoon.
Sophomore forward
Hannah Cater, Schoharie, N.Y., Schoharie High School, put up impressive numbers in the victory tallying a career high of 26 points along with five rebounds, five steals, three assists and two blocked shots while freshman guard
Annie Canales, North Adams, Mass., Hoosac High School, hit for 15 points, three rebounds and four assists on the afternoon.
The Fighting Tigers also received strong outings from first-year guard Eva Norris, Wolcott, N.Y., North Rose-Walcott High School, with 13 points and seven rebounds and from junior
Jordan Finch, East Meredith, N.Y., South Kortright High School, who added 11 points, three rebounds and a blocked shot.
The Orange & Black will next be in action on Monday January 31 when they travel South Hadley, Mass. for a non-league contest versus the Lyons of Mount Holyoke College beginning at 6:00 p.m.
