Cobleskill Falls to SUNY Poly in NAC Action

Cobleskill, NY: The Cobleskill men' soccer team fell to the Wildcats of SUNY Poly on Saturday afternoon from the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex by a final of 4-0.

The Tigers and the Wildcats battled back and forth in the early stages of the first half, with neither team creating any clear goal scoring opportunities. That was until the 14st minute when a Poly player was fouled in Cobleskill's defensive third. Edward Greene stepped up and found a running Matthew McCord who tapped the ball into the Tigers net to give them a 1-0 lead.

Cobleskill fought back and controlled much of the play, receiving excellent play in the midfield by Spencer Reisman (Youngstown, NY). The Tigers kept the pressure on and created a chance for Derek Streeter (Ilion, NY) which was dealt with by the Wildcats defense.

In the 38th minute, the Wildcats used a Cobleskill turnover to extend their lead to 2-0 before halftime. This time it was Aboubacar Camara that found the back of the net for SUNY Poly.

In the second half, Conor Flanigan (Troy, NY) and Streeter looked to create chances for the Tigers, but the Wildcats backline was up to the challenge. In the 52nd and 65th minute, the visitors used two set piece goals to put the game to bed, 4-0.

Both goalkeepers ended the game with six saves. The Wildcats held the shooting advantage 24 (10) to 10 (6) over the Tigers.

Cobleskill (0-9-2) was led by Nicholas DePaulo (Colonie, NY) two shots on goal.

Cobleskill will be in action Wednesday, October 5th, as they travel to SUNY Delhi for a NAC battle starting at 6 pm.
