SUNY Cobleskill Posts Split at NAC Triangular Meet Versus SUNY Canton & SUNY Polytechnic

Fighting Tiger Volleyball Celebrates Senior Day With NAC Triangular Meet Split


Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team split a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contests hosted by the Fighting Tigers on Sunday afternoon at the Iorio Gymnasium. Celebrating "Senior Day" Cobleskill dropped the opener to the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton 3-0 by set scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 27-25 prior to closing the day with a 3-0 win over the Wildcats of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute by scores of 25-14, 25-17 and 17-12. With the split Cobleskill moves to 4-13 overall including a 2-4 record versus league opponents.

The opening game versus the Kangaroos featured a number of long volleys the Fighting Tigers came out on the losing end of as 29 hitting errors coupled with 10 service errors put an end to a number of runs and rallies the Orange & Black attempted to make.

Junior outside hitter Mackenzie Larson, Winterset, Iowa, Winterset High School, turned in a stellar effort in defeat for the home team with 13 kills and nine digs while first-year libero Lydia McDonough, Wappinger Falls, N.Y., John Jay High School, chipped in 12 digs.

In the day's final contest, Cobleskill sent the senior class home on a high note as junior outside hitter Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua North High School, pounded out 11 kills to go with nine digs and two service aces and first-year setter Jade Ward, Miami, Fla., Felix Varela High School, with eight assists, four service aces and two kills led a balanced attack to sweep the visitors.

The Fighting Tigers will be next be in action on Tuesday October 18 when they host the Spartans of Castleton University for a non-conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
