Cobleskill Fall on the Road to MCLA

North Adams, MA:  The Cobleskill women's volleyball team drop their final road regular season match to the Trailblazers of MCLA 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-23) on Tuesday night.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 9-4 lead in the first set, but the trailblazers battled back to tie the set at 12-12.  The teams traded points and the game remained tied at 16-16 until the hosts used 6-2 run to gain some separation.  The Tigers would fall 25-19 in the first set.

The Trailblazers continued their momentum from the first set with a 5-0 run to start the second set. The Tigers received a couple of kills from Alexis Miranda (Nashua, NH) that ended the hosts early run.  After that the hosts used some Cobleskill errors to build a 15-5 lead.  With the score at 19-9 in favor of MCLA, the Tigers battled back and outscored the hosts 8-2 to bring themselves within striking distance. However, the trailblazers used a service ace to close out the second set 25-20.

Cobleskill exchanged blows with the MCLA early in the third set.  With the score tied 8-8, the Tigers used two timely kills by Miranda and a service ace by Kasey Orlowski (Hewitt, NJ) to build a 13-10 lead.  The Trailblazers answered with a six-point run that gave them a 16-13 lead.  MCLA kept each Cobleskill run at bay until two trailblazer errors and a Miranda kill tied the game 23-23.   The host used an Anaid Badio kill and a ball handling error on Cobleskill to take the final set 25-23.

Miranda led the Tigers with 11 kills and three block assists.  Jade Ward had a team high 11 (Miami, FL) assists and added six digs. Libero MacKenzie Larson (Winterset, IA) put together a solid defensive game with a team high 11 digs for Cobleskill. 

MCLA (14-7) was led by Elizabeth Brown's game high 13 kills.  Shannon O'Brien led all players with 29 assists in the game.

The Tigers (5-16) finished the game with 26 kills compared MCLA's 37.  Cobleskill added 23 assists, six aces and 44 digs compared to the trailblazers 36 assists, 10 aces and 53 digs.

Cobleskill will look to bounce back on Wednesday, October 26th, as they host Bard College in their regular season finale at 7:00 pm in the Iorio Gymnasium.
