Cobleskill, N.Y.: Once again on Saturday afternoon the SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team found themselves locked into a defensive struggle; this time with the visiting Privateers of the Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. When the final buzzer sounded it was the Privateers on the winning end of a hard fought 2-1 decision. With the loss the Fighting Tigers drop to 0-11-2 overall including 0-6 mark in conference play while the Privateers move to 4-6-1 overall with a 3-2-1 record in league action.
Trailing the visitors 1-0 in the first half the Fighting Tigers tied the contest in the 28
th minute when junior forward
Nicholas DePaulo, Colonie, N.Y., Colonie High School, scored on a header off of a well struck corner kick by first-year midfielder
Spencer Reisman, Youngstown, N.Y., Lewiston-Porter High School, to make it 1-1 going into halftime.
The score remained tied until the 73
rd minute when MMA junior midfielder Dominisck Gecoya, Middletown, Mass., scored on a thru ball to make it 2-1 and provide the visitors with the eventual margin of victory.
The Fighting Tigers will close out their weekend NAC homestand on Sunday afternoon when they host the Terriers of Thomas College with kick-off scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
