Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team returned to the Iorio Gymnasium on Tuesday evening to take down the visiting Lyons of Mount Holyoke College (MHC) 84-56 in non-conference action. With the victory the Fighting Tigers move to 5-5 overall on the season while the Lyons are now 1-7 overall on the campaign.
The Fighting Tigers used a pronounced size advantage to dominate the backboards by a 54-34 margin and used 24 offensive rebounds post a 48-to-12 advantage in points in the paint to secure the victory.
First-year center/forward
Emily Satterday, Latham, N.Y., Shaker High School, dominated the inside play throughout the evening with 16 points, 17 rebounds and two assists while senior center
Sierra Delaney, Ballston Spa, N.Y., Ballston Spa High School, came off the bench to score 11 points and grab seven rebounds. First-year guard
Talia Washington, Schenectady, N.Y., Schenectady High School, was also a factor in the win with 11 points, four assists and three rebounds.
The Fighting Tigers also received strong efforts from first-year forward
Sierra Goodson, Amsterdam, N.Y., Amsterdam High School, with eight points, three rebounds and two assists, sophomore guard
Taylor Meacham, Berne, N.Y., Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School, with eight points and five rebounds and from sophomore
Annie Canales, North Adams, Mass., Hoosac Valley High School, with eight points, two rebounds and two assists.
Cobleskill will return to North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action over the weekend for a pair of games traveling to Canton, N.Y. on Saturday December 10 afternoon meeting with the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to a trip to Johnson, Vt. on Sunday December 11 for a conference contest versus the Badgers of Northern Vermont University-Johnson with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
