Cazenovia, NY – The Cobleskill women's basketball team defeats Cazenovia College 73-44 in a North Atlantic Conference road game. The Tigers improve to 11-11 (6-4 NAC) on the season while the Wildcats of Cazenovia fall to 4-19 (2-10 NAC).
Cobleskill's offense was in full force all night as they poured in 73 points. They had four players in double figures. Sophomore
Hannah Cater (Schoharie, NY) led the Tigers with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds (6 dreb/4 oreb). She added 6 steals, 4 assists and a block and went 8-19 from the field and 1-2 from three-point range.
Freshman guard
Annie Canales (North Adams, Mass.) added a big spark off the bench with 15 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists for the Tigers.
Taylor Meacham (Berne, NY) chipped in 10 points and 5 assists, while
TyLysa Martinez (Coram, NY) scored 12 points and brought down 8 rebounds.
Arrianna Henry led the Wildcats with 17 points and Mackenzie Bennett added 16.
Cobleskill jumped out to an early 18-14 lead after the first quarter behind some strong play from
Annie Canales who poured in 9 points in the first. The Tigers took a 32-21 lead heading into halftime.
The Tigers offense caught fire and outscored the Wildcats 23-11 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 55-32 heading into the fourth. Cobleskill finished the game with a 29-point lead to win 73-44.
Cobleskill defensive was a major factor in the game. They caused Cazenovia to turn the ball over 24 times, which led to 14 steals and 26 points off turnovers.
The Tigers bench outscored the Wildcats bench 23-0. Cobleskill finished the contest shooting 36.3 percent while the Wildcats shot it at 29.3 percent.
The Tigers are in action next as they travel to Northern Vermont University-Johnson for a NAC road game. Tip-off will be at 7:30 pm tip on Friday, February 11
th.
