Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team took an important step toward securing a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) first round play-off bye by winning on the road versus the host Badgers of Northern Vermont University-Johnson 75-69 in league action. With the victory the Fighting Tigers are now 12-11 overall with a 7-4 record in league play while the Badgers are currently 5-15 with a 3-8 mark in NAC contests.
Using a distinct size advantage, the Fighting Tigers muscled their way to the free throw line where they connected on 17-of-23 attempts, 73.9%, to put the game out of reach of the home team.
First year guard
Annie Canales, North Adams, Mass., Hoosac High School, hit for a team high of 17 points while first year point guard
Keyara Maxwell, Middletown, N.Y., Middletown High School, added 15 points and four assists to the team's victory totals.
Cobleskill also received a double/double from sophomore forward
Hannah Cater, Schoharie, N.Y., Schoharie High School, with 10 points and 10 rebounds and 12 points and seven rebounds from junior center
Jordan Finch, East Meredith, N.Y., South Kortright High School.
The Fighting Tigers will close the regular season on Saturday, February 12, when they travel to Canton, N.Y. to meet the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton in NAC play beginning at 3:00 p.m.
