Cobleskill, N.Y.: With the end of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) regular season fast approaching the NAC Western Division Leading SUNY Cobleskill baseball team split a doubleheader with the host Kangaroos of SUNY Canton in league action winning the first game 15-3 and losing the nightcap 6-3. With the split the Fighting Tigers are now 20-15 overall including a 11-2 record in conference action while the Kangaroos move to 10-27 overall including a 7-9 conference record.
In the opener the Cobleskill jumped out to a 9-0 lead pounding out 13 hits in the game versus Kangaroo pitching.
At the plate the Fighting Tigers received contributions from sophomore third baseman
David Flora, Windsor, N.Y., Windsor High School/Onondaga Community College, who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI, with first year catcher
Logan Hutter, Smithtown, N.Y., Smithtown West High School, going 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and two RBI and senior shortstop
Eddy Garcia, Bronx, N.Y., Word View High School, going 2-for-5 with a double, three runs scored and three RBI.
Junior right hander
Wyatt Palmer, Camden, N.Y., Camden High School/Cayuga Community College, worked six innings allowing three runs while striking out six and walking only two to improve to 6-2 overall.
In the second game the Orange & Black could only manage two hits in the game as the Kangaroos broke open a 1-1 tie by scoring three runs in the bottom of the third to break the game open.
Senior
Samuel Gutierrez, Bayside, N.Y., Martin Van Buren High School/Queensborough Community College, went 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI in defeat.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Sunday May 1 when they travel to Factoryville, Pa. for a non-conference game versus the Giants of Keystone College beginning at 2:30 p.m.
