Factoryville, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team took to the road on Sunday afternoon losing to the host Giants of Keystone College in non-conference action by a 7-4 margin. With the defeat the Fighting Tigers fall to 20-16 overall on the year while the Giants move to 20-15 overall on the season to date.
The Fighting Tigers stuck first in the opening inning when with two outs senior shortstop
Eddy Garcia, Bronx, N.Y., World View High School, walked and scored when senior right fielder
Samuel Gutierrez, Bayside, N.Y., Martin Van Buren High School/Queensborough Community College, hit his sixth home run of the year.
However, that was the last lead the visitors would have on the day as the Giants scored the next five runs to take a lead that they would extend to 7-3 after five innings and not relinquish to post the victory.
Eddy Garcia posted another impressive outing at the plate going 2-for-4 with three runs scored and a stolen base with
Samuel Gutierrez going 2-for-5 with the two-run homer. Junior first baseman
Frank Leger, Bronx, N.Y., All Hallows High School, also had a solid day in the batters' box going 1-for-1 with three walks and two RBI in the game. Â
Cobleskill will next be in action on Tuesday May 3 at Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, N.Y. for a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m.
