Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team returned home on Saturday afternoon to post a 1-1 tie versus the visiting Pioneers of Alfred State College at the Soccer/Lax Complex in non-conference play. With the tie, the Fighting Tigers move to 0-3-1 overall on the season while Alfred State is now 2-1-1 on the year.

The Fighting Tigers drew first blood in the 16^th minute of play when junior midfielder Cater Ciavardoni, Latham, N.Y., Shaker High School, scored off a corner-kick from sophomore Cody Petschko, Hyde Park, N.Y., Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, to make it 1-0.

The visitors tied the contest 1-1 when in the 37^th minute when first-year Gavin Rice, Greece, N.Y., Greece-Athena High School, connected from 18-yards out.

From that point, the game turned into a hard-hitting defensive struggle in which Cobleskill senior goalkeeper John Gergen, Greenville, N.Y., Greenville High School, recorded a career high of 18 saves in the game to stifle the Alfred office.

The Fighting Tigers will close out the weekend on Sunday when they host the Pioneers of Utica College in non-league action at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex with kick-off slated for 12:00 p.m.
