Fighting Tiger Women's Soccer Falls to ACPHS Panthers 2-1 in Non-League Action

Jessica Carney Scores First Career Goal in 2-1 Loss to ACPHS

Albany, N.Y.: On the rain-soaked turf of the host Panthers of the Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (ACPHS) the SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team found themselves on the short end of a 2-1 score in a non-league contest on Wednesday evening. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 1-6-2 overall on the season while Panthers improve to 6-1-1 overall on the year.

Trailing at the half 1-0 the Fighting Tigers evened the contest in the 55th minute of play when first-year midfielder Jessica Carney, Hopkinton, N.H., Hopkinton High School, scored her first collegiate goal on a well-placed shot to even the contest at 1-1.
The score remained tied until the 67th minute when Panther senior forward Julia Roemer, Latham, N.Y., Shaker High School, scored off a pass from senior midfielder Mayle Lupia-Eannace, Barneveld, N.Y., Holland Patent High School, to give the home team the lead.

The Fighting Tigers had a pair of attacks on the ACPHS goal in the final minute but the Panther defense held to give the home team the victory.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday October 1 when they return home for a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game versus the Wildcats of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex with kick-off at 3:30 p.m.
