Fighting Tiger Women's Basketball Downs Delhi Broncos 70-41 in NAC Action

Cobleskill Women's Cagers Use Big Second Quarter to Defeat SUNY Delhi in League Play


Delhi, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team returned to the win column on Saturday afternoon defeating the host Broncos of SUNY Delhi by a 70-41 margin in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action. With the victory the Fighting Tigers move to 12-8 overall on the season including an 8-2 record versus league opponents while the Broncos fall to 2-18 overall with a 0-10 record in league action.

The Fighting Tigers broke the game open in the second quarter outscoring their hosts 18-6 to take a 34-15 lead into halftime from which they never looked back using a 60-to-28 advantage on the backboards to go with 21 forced Bronco turnovers to secure the victory.

First-year forward/center Emily Satterday, Latham, N.Y., Shaker High School, dominated the inside action for the visitors posting her 13th double/double of the season with game highs of 15 points and 15 rebounds supported by sophomore guard Annie Canales, North Adams, Mass., Hoosac Valley High School, who tallied 11 points along with eight rebounds.

Cobleskill also received strong efforts off the bench from sophomore forward Hannah Cater, Schoharie, N.Y., Schoharie High School, filled her stat line with nine points, eight rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot and from first-year forward Sierra Goodson, Amsterdam, N.Y., Amsterdam High School, who scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds in a reserve role.

The Orange & Black will next be in action on Friday February 3 when they travel to Marcy, N.Y. to face the Wildcats of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute in a match-up of the two top teams in the NAC Western Division with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
