SUNY Cobleskill Volleyball Splits Pair of NAC Contests at SUNY Poly Triangular Match

Fighting Tiger Volleyball Splits Conference Games at SUNY Poly on Saturday


 
Marcy, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team split a pair of contests at a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Triangular match hosted by the Wildcats of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Saturday. The Fighting Tigers opened the day by dropping a 3-0 decision to the Lions of Eastern Nazarene College by scores of 25-6, 25-13 and 25-13 then closed the day by downing the host Wildcats 3-0 by scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-21. With the split Cobleskill is now 8-11 overall on the year including a 3-2 record versus NAC opponents.
 
In the first game the Fighting Tigers struggled with the conference leading Lions as the ladies from Massachusetts posted an impressive 35 kills as opposed to only eight attack errors for a .380 hitting percentage to secure the victory.
 
Cobleskill middle hitter/outside hitter Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua North High School, turned in a solid effort with four kills, four total blocks and three digs.
 
In the day's finale the Fighting Tigers roared back led by Miranda who pounded out 21 kills to go with six digs and two total blocks, first-year outside hitter Emma Hinze, Altenburg, Mo., Saxon Lutheran High School, who tallied eight kills and 12 digs and first-year setter Jade Ward, Miami, Fla., Felix Varela High School, who had 15 assists, eight digs and a pair of kills in the win.
 
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Wednesday October 18 when they travel to Delhi, N.Y. for a NAC meeting with the Broncos of SUNY Delhi with first-serve at 7:00 p.m.
