Fighting Tiger Women's Volleyball Shoots Down Bard College Raptors 3-0 in Non-Conference Action

SUNY Cobleskill Women's Volleyball Sweeps Bard College 3-0 in Non-League Play

Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team stepped out of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Tuesday evening to sweep the host Raptors of Bard College 3-0 by set scores of 25-12, 25-21 and 25-22. With the victory the Fighting Tigers improve to 10-13 overall on the season while the Raptors drop to 10-17 overall on the year.

The Fighting Tiger front line proved to be too much for the Raptors to handle on the evening as Cobleskill hitters blasted the home team for 36 kills on the night.

Senior middle hitter/outside hitter Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua High School, led the way with 15 kills and two blocks with help from first-year outside hitter Emma Hinze, Altenburg, Mo., Saxon Lutheran High School, who had eight kills and 12 digs and from first-year opposite side hitter Kathleen Smart, Nashville, Tenn., Pope John Paul II Prep., who had seven kills, nine digs and a pair of service aces. First-year outside hitter Hallie Gasner, Middleburgh, N.Y., Middleburgh High School, was also a factor in the win with five kills and four digs.

The Fighting Tiger setters made life easy for their hitters and difficult for their hosts as first-year Baylee Kirschberg, Lindenhurst, N.Y., Lindenhurst High School, had 21 assists to go with three digs and a kill while sophomore Jade Ward, Miami, Fla., Felix Varela High School, chipped in 11 assists.
Defensively sophomore libero Lydia McDonough, Wappinger Falls, N.Y., John Jay High School, continued her strong play with 13 digs, two assists and three service aces.

Cobleskill returns home on Wednesday October 25 to host the Spartans of Castleton University for a non-league match at the Iorio Gymnasium with first-serve slated for 7:00 p.m.
