Cobleskill, NY: The Fighting Tiger women's volleyball split a pair of matches on senior day as they hosted a North Atlantic Conference tri-match falling to SUNY Morrisville in four sets, 16-25, 25-20, 13-25, 23-25, before coming back to defeat SUNY Canton in five sets, 21-25, 19-25, 25-11, 25-18, 15-10.

Cobleskill finished the day 12-14 on the season and 5-5 in the NAC.

In game one,
Alexis Miranda (Nashua, NH/Nashua North) led the Tigers with a team-high 14 kills and 3 blocks. Sophomore
Jade Ward (Miami, FL/Felix Varela) played well for Cobleskill dishing out 17 assists and added four digs. Fellow sophomore
Lydia McDonough (Wappinger Falls, NY/John Jay) led the Fighting Tigers with 14 digs. Freshman
Emma Hinze (Altenburg, MO/Saxon Lutheran) and senior Eva Norris (Walcott, NY/North-Rose Walcott) had a sound defensive game picking up a block and two assists each.

Morrisville jumped out to an early lead after a slow start for Cobleskill. The visitors used a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 18-5. Cobleskill responded with their own 7-1 run thanks to kills by Norris and
Hallie Gasner (Middleburgh, NY/Middleburgh), but the high-power offense of the Mustangs closed out the set 25-16.

The second set saw the Fighting Tigers come to life with a strong start as they held a commanding 11-5 lead after a service ace by Miranda. The visitors attempted to fight their way back into the set, but Cobleskill answered every challenge. A kill by
Kathleen Smart gave the Tigers a 25-20 win to tie the match at 1-1.

Morrisville used a surge of momentum in the third set that sprang them to a 19-10 lead after scoring seven straight points. Cobleskill couldn't recover and the Mustangs took the third set 25-13.

Cobleskill and Morrisville battled back and forth in a close fourth set. The Tigers used a seven-point run, thanks to some excellent passing by Ward, to take a 18-16 lead. But the Mustangs regrouped and used a 7-1 run of their own to see out the set and win the match 3-1.

Cobleskill finished with a .115 attack percentage and a game-high eight blocks. Morrisville held the advantage with assists, 45, to Cobleskill's 28. Cobleskill committed six less errors than the mustangs.

In game two, Miranda displayed why she is one of the best players in the conference. She finished with a career-high 12 blocks and added 18 kills with two aces.Â
Emma Hinze had a solid overall game with 13 digs, seven kills and three blocks.Â
Baylee Kirschberg (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) recorded a team-high 25 assists and libero McDonough continued her strong day with 15 digs and two aces.

The visiting SUNY Canton jumped on the Fighting Tigers with a 7-1 lead in the first set. Cobleskill used a big run to swing momentum back in their favor after three Miranda kills to pull the game to within one, 18-17. The Roos of Canton used kills by Sarah Balcom, Brooke Hite and Sammie Frank to take back control and close out the set with a 25-21 win.

The second set saw much of the same with both teams going back and forth. The game was all tied up, 16-16, until Canton pounced on their opportunity to build a 21-16 lead. The Tigers attempted to fight back, but the visitors closed out the set 25-19.

The early stage of the third set saw Miranda take over as she racked up two kills, two blocks and a service ace to give the Tigers a 9-5 lead. Cobleskill used that momentum to build a 14-7 lead and never looked back. Miranda put her stamp on the set with three blocks and two kills as the Tigers scored 10 straight points to take the set 25-11.

Cobleskill jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the fourth set. A Miranda kill pushed their lead to 19-13 as the Fighting Tigers used teamwork to control the rest of the set, and see out a 25-18 win to push the game to a fifth set.

The Tigers used a Miranda block and kill to claim a 4-0 lead to start the set. A kill from Hinze extended their lead to 7-1. Canton tried to mount a comeback, but Kirschberg set up Miranda for the final two points of the match to give Cobleskill a 15-10 win and the match.

Cobleskill finished the game with a season-high 15 blocks. They held the advantage with a .175 attack percentage to Canton's .055%.  Â

The Tigers will be in action next Thursday, November 2
nd at 7:00 p.m. as they travel to Utica University for a non-conference match.
