Cobleskill, NY: The Fighting Tiger women's volleyball split a pair of matches as they hosted a North Atlantic Conference tri-match defeating SUNY Canton in five sets, 25-22, 27-25, 24-26, 20-25, 15-13, before falling to Eastern Nazarene College in straight sets, 25-10, 25-18, 25-11.

Cobleskill finished the day 6-10 on the season and 2-1 in the NAC.

In game one,
Alexis Miranda (Nashua, NH/Nashua North) led the Tigers with a game-high 21 kills and team-high four blocks. Freshman
Baylee Kirschberg (Lindenhurst, NY) played well for Cobleskill dishing out 26 assists and added 13 digs. Senior
Kasey Orlowski (Hewitt, NJ/ West Milford) finished with 17 assists and
Lydia McDonough (Wappinger Falls, NY/John Jay) led the Fighting Tigers with 16 digs.Â

Cobleskill jumped out to an early 4-1 lead over the visitor Roos, but Canton battled back and took a 12-8 lead. The Fighting Tigers used a 7-1 run, featuring two
Emma Hinze () aces to reclaim control of the game, 15-13. Both teams continued to battle back and forth the rest of the set, but a kill from Miranda put the set to bed 25-22.

Canton built an early 6-0 lead in the second set and remained in control keeping Cobleskill out of reach for most of the set. But with the score 20-15, Cobleskill mounted their comeback. The Fighting Tigers outscored Canton 9-2 and took their first lead of the set 24-22, but the Roos answered with a 3-0 run of their own to retake the lead, 25-24. Then it was kills by Eva Norris (Wolcott, NY/North Rose-Wolcott) and Kinze that gave the Tigers the 27-25 win.

In an evenly matched third set, Canton and Cobleskill were all tied at 24-24. Then a mistake by Cobleskill and a service ace by Canton's Bria Hunter gave the Roos the win, 26-24. The fourth set started in a familiar fashion as Canton jumped out to a 5-2 lead. Cobleskill attempted to mount their comeback, but the visitors kept the Tigers at bay and won the set 25-20 to push the match to a fifth and final set.

In the fifth set, Cobleskill trailed 5-2 before going on the attack and switching the momentum into their favor. The Fighting Tigers scored five straight points, including two service aces by Kirschberg, and took their first lead of the set 10-7. Cobleskill never looked back and took the set 15-13 and the match 3-2.

Cobleskill finished with a .193 attack percentage and a game-high eight blocks. Canton ended the match with 38 errors compared to Cobleskill's 20.Â

In game two, Miranda and Hinze led the Tigers with four kills each. Kirschberg finished with three aces and a team-high five assists. Kirschberg and Miranda also chipped in a team-high seven digs for Cobleskill each.

The visiting Eastern Nazarene College used a 6-0 start to gain control of the first set. They extended that lead to 17-6 after a 6-0 run over Cobleskill. The first set finished 25-10 in favor of the Lions.

Cobleskill used three service aces by Kirschberg to jump out to a 5-0 lead in the second set. After trading points back and forth, Eastern Nazarene chipped away at the lead until it was all tied, 11-11. Cobleskill used two attack errors by ENC and a kill by Miranda to take a 14-12 lead. Then Lions scored three straight points to take the lead 17-15 then followed that up by scoring six straight points to close out the game 25-18.

In the third set, Eastern Nazarene jumped out to an early 8-3 lead and never looked back. The set finished 25-11 and the Lions won the match, 3-0.

Cobleskill finished the game with six aces, two blocks, 31 digs and a -.056 attack percentage as a team.Â

The Tigers will be in action next Saturday, October 14
th at 1:00 p.m. against Eastern Nazarene College as they travel to SUNY Poly for a NAC Tri-Match.
