SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tiger Weekly Recap for the Week of Nov. 19, 2023


 
The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team improved to 3-0 overall on the season by defeating the Engineers of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute by a 49-42 margin in Troy, N.Y. on Saturday. Fighting Tiger junior point guard Taylor Meacham, Berne, N.Y., Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School, led the way to the upset victory over their Liberty League opponent scoring a game high of 11 points to go with seven rebounds, an assist, a steal and a blocked shot on the day.
 
The Fighting Tiger men's basketball team dropped 2-of-3 games during the week losing at home on Tuesday evening to the Garnett Chargers of Union College 93-85 prior to defeating the host Soaring Eagles of Elmira College 98-86 on Thursday in Elmira, N.Y. and losing on the road in Plattsburgh, N.Y. on Saturday to the Cardinals of Plattsburgh State by a 73-69 margin. Sophomore guard Kobie Long, Rochester, N.Y., McQuade Jesuit High School, was the team's top performer averaging 23.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game during the week.
 
The Fighting Tiger Hunt Seat Equestrian Team posted a team score of 23 points to place seventh in a nine-team field at an Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) event hosted by the Thoroughbreds of Skidmore College at the Van Lennep Riding Center in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
 
Fighting Tiger athletic teams under the direction of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) conducted a Thanksgiving Food Drive that resulted in the donation of 767 food and personal care items to the Catholic Charities Food Pantry in Cobleskill, N.Y.
