Cortland, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team lost in walk-off fashion to perennial regional power SUNY Cortland 8-7 on Tuesday at the host Red Dragons' Robert H. Wallace '53 Field in non-conference action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 4-8 overall on the campaign while the Red Dragons improve to 8-7 on the year.
The Fighting Tigers trailed 6-1 heading into the top of the eighth inning when the Cobleskill bats came to life as the visitors exploded for six runs taking the lead at 7-6 when senior second baseman
David Flora, Windsor, N.Y., Windsor High School/Herkimer Community College, doubled home sophomore left fielder
Trevor Grieb, Red Hook, N.Y., Red Hook High School who had doubled and sophomore centerfielder
Zach Ducorsky, Oceanside, N.Y., Oceanside Senior High School, who had singled.
However, the Red Dragons would respond with a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the contest at 7-7 and after Cobleskill would go scoreless in the top of the ninth, Cortland would decide the issue in the bottom of the ninth when sophomore first baseman Mitchell Kelly, Webster, N.Y., Webster Thomas High School, homered to lead-off the bottom of the ninth to end the game in walk-off fashion.
Once again
David Flora would lead the Cobleskill offensive attack going 2-for-5 with a double, two stolen bases and a pair of RBI while junior first baseman
