Marcy, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill softball team saw their season end on Monday morning as the Fighting Tigers dropped an 11-2 decision to the Wildcats of Cazenovia College at the 2023 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship Tournament hosted by the SUNY Polytechnic Institute at their Wildcat Softball Field. With the loss the Fighting Tigers close the year at 11-25 overall while the Wildcats advance in the tournament with a 21-16 overall record.
The Fighting Tigers jumped out to a first inning advantage pushing two runs across when junior first baseman
Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua North High School, doubled home sophomore designated player
Olivia DeMott, Sidney, N.Y., Sidney High School, who had opened the game with a single. Miranda then scored when junior left fielder
Emily Lutz, Ellenville, N.Y., Ellenville High School, singled to right center field.
However, from that point on the Wildcats took control of the contest scoring the next 11 runs while holding the Fighting Tigers to only two hits the rest of the way to secure the victory and advance.
At the plate,
Olivia DeMott went 2-for-3 with a run scored while
Emily Lutz was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
