Fighting Tiger Women's Volleyball Splits Pair of Matches at Kings College Tri-Match

SUNY Cobleskill Women's Volleyball Brings Home Split From Kings College Tri-Match


Wilkes-Barre, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team broke into the win column on Saturday splitting a pair of non-conference contests on the road on Saturday at the King's College Triangular Match hosted by the Lions of King's College. The Fighting Tigers dropped a 3-1 decision to the Lions in the day's opener by scores of 23-25, 20-25, 25-20 and 25-27 before closing the day with a 3-0 win over the Phoenix of Wilson College by scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-15. With the split Cobleskill moves to 1-5 overall on the year.

In the opener senior middle hitter Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua North High School, kept the visitors in the contest with 17 kills, eight digs, and four total blocks while first-year outside hitter Emma Hinze, Altenburg, Mo., Saxon Lutheran High School, added 11 kills to go with 12 digs and four service aces and junior middle hitter Eva Norris, Walcott, N.Y., North Rose-Walcott High School, tallied 10 kills.

First-year setter Baylee Kirschberg, Lindenhurst, N.Y., Lindenhurst High School, was also a factor versus the Lions with 29 assists, 11 kills and three digs.
In the nightcap, the duo of Alexis Miranda and Emma Hinze once again provided power at the net as Miranda registered 10 kills and a pair of service aces with Hinze going for seven kills and nine digs.

Sophomore libero Lydia McDonough, Wappinger Falls, N.Y., John Jay High School, also played a major role in the win with 10 digs, three service aces and an assist.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Tuesday September 12 when they host the Gators of Sage College for a non-league contest with first serve at 7:00 p.m.
