Elmira, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team dropped their season opener on Sunday afternoon to the host Soaring Eagles of Elmira College by a 2-0 margin in non-league action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers open the year with a 0-1 record while the Soaring Eagles move to 1-1 overall on the campaign.

The contest was a defensive struggle through the first 70 minutes of action when the home team scored in the 71^st minute when Elmira senior midfielder Sara Wagner, Horseheads, N.Y., Horseheads High School, converted a penalty kick to make it 1-0 Soaring Eagles. Elmira would add a late insurance goal in the 80^th minute when the Fighting Tigers extended their defense.

Cobleskill first-year goalkeeper Jojo Leubner, Marcellus, N.Y., Marcellus High School, turned in a strong effort between the pipes for the Orange & Black in her first career start recording six saves on the afternoon.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Tuesday September 5 when they travel to Purchase, N.Y. for a non-conference meeting with the Panthers of SUNY Purchase with kick-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
