Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Cobleskill Falls 4-1 to VTSU-Johnson

Jojo Leubner scores Cobleskill's lone goal

Cobleskill, NY:  The Fighting Tigers women's soccer team fell 4-1 to the Badgers of Vermont State University Johnson in a North Atlantic Conference match at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex on Saturday afternoon.  Cobleskill drops to 0-7-1 overall and 0-3 in the NAC, while Johnson improves to 6-1-2 and 2-0-1 in the NAC.

The visitors opened the scoring up at the 5:02 mark after Matt House (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ) beat a couple of Cobleskill defenders and found the back of the net.  Matt House scored her second goal in the 27th minute to push their lead to 2-0.  After an unfortunate hand ball in the box for the Tigers in the 31st minute,  Olivia Davis (Cadyville, NY) stepped up for the visitors and buried the penalty kick to the bottom corner.

At the half, Cobleskill had four shots to Johnson's 12.  Both teams had one corner each.

Johnson extended their lead to 4-0 early in the second half as Matt House found Olivia Davis for her second goal in the game.  The Tigers first-year forward Jojo Leubner (Marcellus, NY) answered back as she took down a bouncing ball outside the 18-yard box and hammered home a goal at the 73 minute to finish the game at 4-1.

The Tigers finished with 5 shots with 4 on target compared to Johnson's 23 shots and 16 shots on target.  Sophomore keeper Dory Gosselin (Whitehall, NY) finished with 12 saves for the Tigers.

Cobleskill returns to action next week on Wednesday, October 4th at 4:00 p.m. as they host Vermont State University in a non-conference match at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
