Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team opened the home portion of their 2023 season on Wednesday evening by dropping a 3-0 decision to the visiting Pioneers of Utica College by scores of 25-23, 25-13 and 25-16 in non-league action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 0-4 overall on the season while the Pioneers improve to 3-1 overall on the year.
Senior middle hitter/outside hitter
Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua North High School, turned in a stellar effort with seven kills and three services aces on the evening while first-year setter
Baylee Kirschberg, Lindenhurst, N.Y., Lindenhurst High School, chipped in five kills, eight assists and three digs.
Cobleskill also received solid play from first-year outside hitter
Emma Hinze, Altenburg, Mo. Saxon Lutheran High School, with five kills, six digs and three assists.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Saturday September 9 when they travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. for a triangular match hosted by the Lions of Kings College who they will face at 12:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. meeting with the Phoenix of Wilson College.
TIGER NOTES: With her seven kills in the contest, Fighting Tiger senior middle hitter/outside hitter Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua North High School, has now registered 500 career kills during her career with the Orange & Black.
